KANE COUNTY JUVENILE JUSTICE CENTER

Making meaningful connections between design principles and life skills in graphics class. Students think for themselves and create within a framework of relevant content, including technique, expression and art history. Projects develop within larger design themes as murals, signs and installations.

Reflecting on themes of identity, transformation and the symbolism of walls, students created self-portraits and spirit animals, and painted their own silhouettes into murals for the units.

Walking a mile in any one’s shoes is tough work, and students thought about that and more as they designed for their day to day walk in detention.
